Newport Police Log: Vandalism and Plaza Car Break-Ins
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Kawan O. Hernandez, 33, of Newport, was arrested around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, for a domestic vandalism charge.
Newport police were dispatched to the residence for a report that Hernandez refused to leave his girlfriend’s apartment. Reports said there were signs of a disturbance outside the home, including a bent window screen outside of the window and decorations strewn about the porch.
The woman told police that during their argument Hernandez had thrown a remote at her television, shattering the screen. She then told him to leave and called police when he refused.
Reports said Hernandez denied intentionally breaking the television.
Woman arrested for allegedly breaking into cars
Judi A. Beck, 47, of 228 Maple Ave., Newport, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, for an active warrant for failure to appear in court and two tampering with vehicles charges.
Police were dispatched to the Walmart plaza for a report of a woman breaking into parked cars.
A witness saw Beck trying door handles, entering cars and rummaging through the interiors, reports said.
She called police, who arrived to find Beck inside a car.
When police asked if the car belonged to her, she said it did not and was arrested.
Warrant arrest
- Xavier V. Perry, 19, of 12 Champlin St., Newport, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, for an active warrant for failure to appear in court.

really nice! Now that's something to be proud of. Looking for money for drugs I'm sure. I would feel bad if you ever tried to get yourself help or clean. Get a life! Oh that's right you had one and gave that away for the luxury of stealing and god knows what else to get your fix!
