Newport Police Log: Shoplifting, Credit Card Fraud Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Kyle A. Conlon, 23, of Newport, was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, for a shoplifting charge.
Police were dispatched to Walmart for a detained shoplifter.
According to the security officer, Conlon was comparing a receipt to the UPC codes to merchandise in the store. He then tried to return the items, reports said.
When an employee refused to accept the items, Conlon walked out and was detained.
Woman charged with credit card fraud
Michele Pugliese, 19, of 55 Newcomb Rd., Tenafly, NJ, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, for a credit card fraud charge.
According to reports, Pugliese purchased $35 worth of cigarettes at the 7-Eleven on Memorial Boulevard with a credit card belonging to a Middletown woman.
Other arrests
- Abigail M. Connors, 20, of 58 Wyman St., Woburn, MA, was cited around 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, for a noise violation.
- Mark T. Gonsalves, 21, of 11 Lincoln St., Newport, was arrested around 4:57 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, for an active warrant for failure to appear in court.
