Newport Police Log: Larceny and Domestic Assault Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Charles E. Casper, 36, of Woonsocket, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, for a domestic simple assault charge.
On Sept. 16, police were dispatched to a Burnside Avenue residence for a domestic assault report.
According to the victim, Casper came to her house, got drunk and assaulted her while she was in the shower.
Man charged with stealing cell phone from Walmart
Arthur J. Shough II, 48, of 132 Park Holm, Newport, was arrested around 8:56 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, for a shoplifting charge.
On Nov. 9, Walmart security officers presented police with surveillance photos of Shough taking a cell phone valued at $150.
Shough turned himself in to police on Tuesday and admitted to taking the cell phone, reports said.
Larceny arrest
Zeltite L. Kremane, 18 ,of 15 John Chafee Blvd., Newport, was arrested around 1:14 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, for a larceny under $1,500 charge.
