Newport Police Log: Domestic Assault Arrest

The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Daryl L. Hazard, 38, of Newport, was arrested around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, for a domestic simple assault charge.

Police were dispatched to his home for a report that he was throwing things inside. When they arrived, items were strewn around the apartment.

His girlfriend told police they had been arguing and that he had assaulted her and thrown things around the home.

Reports said Hazard admitted to breaking the plastic drawers outside.

The above reports detail arrests made by the Newport Police Department. Descriptions of all events are based solely on police officer reports provided to Patch.

(Teirrah Vages) was attacked in HER home and then SHE goes to jail for defending herself ! The police urged her to hang up with me so they can take her statement"Mom I'll call you back,"she said to me crying, I told her to press charges on him and to call me back when they leave! 3 hrs later from the police station! Well, given it was a domestic, I assumed that because she was arrested then he was arrested also but such was not the case !!! I later found out that my cousin (Peter Early) who assulted my daughter ,his girlfriend who was on the scene and who drove him to my daughters residence has ties with the Newport Police Department, she (Christina George) works for the Housing Hotline and her mother (Gwen George) is a long time employee for the department .So would someone please tell me why you think the actual aggressor was NOT arrested in this case ! This is a domestic case and the law is quite clear if both parties have visible signs of injury then both get arrested ! Hmmm, Why wasnt he arrested ?and further you mean to tell me that if someone comes into my home and attacks me in the wee hours of the morning that I cannot defend myself by any means necessary? Why were these alleged clothes sooo important that they needed to be picked up at 12:30 am ? Seriously, look at the facts things dont add up .The police are supposto protect and serve the community, not protect and serve co-workers reputations !!!
