Newport Police Log: Assault, Credit Card Fraud, and Warrant Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Danielle M. Franklin, 35, of Newport, was arrested 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, for domestic simple assault and drug possession charges. Charles A. Ingersoll, of Newport, was also arrested for domestic simple assault and domestic vandalism charges.
Police responded to an assault report on Chapel Terrace. Franklin told police the two had been in an argument and she had thrown a jewelry box at him and hit him in the head.
Ingersoll admitted to grabbing her and stomping on her cell phone.
During a search of the apartment, police found seven pills without a prescription belonging to Franklin, reports said.
- Karen Dufalt, 51, of 301 Newbury St., Danvers, MA, was arrested around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, for obtaining food with intent to defraud and fraudulent use of a credit card. According to reports, Dufalt ordered $107.78 worth of food and drinks from a Newport restaurant and her credit card came back as suspended. Dufalt said she would pay back the meal but never returned.
- Kyle C. Schwartz, 22, of 103 David St., New Bedford, MA, was arrested around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, for four active warrants for second-degree child abuse and failure to appear in court.
- Keith A. Upshur, 47, of Newport, was arrested around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, for an active warrant.
- Kevin F. Reilly, 39, of 268 Sarles Lane, Pleasantville, NY, was arrested around 2:11 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, for an active warrant for grand larceny.
