Newport Police Log: Assault and Warrant Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Kenneth J. Haslam, of 1076 Aquidneck Ave., Middletown, was arrested around 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, for a domestic simple assault charge.
Police were dispatched to a Bliss Road residence for a reported assault.
A witness told police it appeared Haslam had punched his brother and drove off with the victim hanging on to the outside door.
The victim had minor injuries and said he hung on for about 10 feet before the door handle broke off.
Other arrests
- Sandra A. Hernandez, 29, of 20 Chapel St., Newport, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, for two active warrants for failure to appear in court.
- David W. Gomes, 40, of 66 Park Holm, was arrested around 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, for domestic simple assault and domestic refusal to relinquish a telephone charges.
