Newport Grand Referendum Moves to RI Senate
The proposal passed in the house 69-3.
A proposal allowing voters decide whether Newport Grand should expand to a full-scale casino passed in the Rhode Island House 69-3 on Tuesday and has moved on to the Senate, the Boston.com reports.
If passed, the referendum will be on the November ballot.
Newport Grand has been looking to expand to a full-scale casino with table games to compete with proposed casinos in Massachusetts.

If the expand to a full casino they still will not be able to compete and will then expect the State to bail them out.
