Monday: School Committee Policy Subcommittee Meeting and Free Skate Night

A look at what's happening in and around Newport today.

 
  1. The “Hut” will host a Pre-school Open Gym from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for children up to five years old. The cost is $5 per family with a maximum of three children per adult supervisor. This program occurs every Monday and Thursday morning.
  2. The Newport School Committee Policy Subcommittee will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Newport Schools Administration Building to discuss the administrative salary step schedule, long-term personnel substitute assignments, revising the policy on recruitment and appointment, and work groups and proposed membership appointments.
  3. The Newport Library will host a Bilingual Storytime with Dana Edward Ramey in English and Spanish at 3:30 p.m. for children ages 4 and up. Admission is free and no registration is required.
  4. The Middletown Library will hold a drop-in Fun Time Storytime for children ages 3 to 5 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. This program is free and meets on January 9, 23, and 30.
  5. Admission is free tonight and every Monday (except holidays and school vacation days) at Skate Newport courtesy of People’s Credit Union.
