MLK Center Holding Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive Throughout May

The MLK Center is holding a PB&J drive throughout the month of May. Help out by dropping off peanut butter and jelly at any of their donation sites.

The Martin Luther King Jr.  Community Center is holding a peanut butter and jelly drive throughout the month of May.

“A sandwich is an easy thing to take for granted, but one of the greatest benefits of the PB&J to a food pantry, is the longevity of the ingredients. Jars of peanut butter and jelly last considerably longer than other foods, which is critical when stocks are running low. Not to mention their almost universal taste appeal. For this reason, during the entire month of May, the Center is holding a peanut butter and jelly drive to help replenish our pantry and have some fun doing it,” the center’s website says.

The community can also donate at Shaw’s, Shop and Shop, Clement’s Market, as well as several other sites around Aquidneck Island. View all locations here.

As a part of the PB&J Drive, the center is issuing a call out for favorite PB&J flavors or experiences, so share your memories on their Facebook page and twitter.

“We’ll also welcome cans of soup to go with those sandwiches or other sealed and boxed goods, but really it’s about the PB&J.”

For the past four to five years when we owned Tucker's Bistro, we donated a case of peanut butter and a case of jelly each month. We only stopped abouth a month ago because we sold the restaurant.
