Maher Center to Honor Senate President Paiva-Weed
The celebration will be at the Hyatt on Oct. 14.
The James L. Maher Center will be honoring Senate President M. Teresa Paiva-Weed for her many years of service to the James L. Maher Center and the members of Aquidneck Island.
The Maher Center’s Annual Cocktail Celebration will be hosted at the Hyatt Regency Newport on Goat Island, Sunday, October 14 from 4:30pm – 7pm. Tickets maybe purchased for $60 per person by calling the Development Office at the Maher Center (401) 846-4600 ext 3120. The evening will be filled with community spirit, food, drinks, silent and live auctions, raffles and entertainment provided by Paul DelNero and his Jazz Quartet.
There will be a special fundraising effort that evening to raise needed funds to purchase a bus for our recreation program to accommodate our clients’ needs.
“This is an opportunity for the community to come together to support an agency that has been offering help to individuals with disabilities on Aquidneck Island for nearly 60 years,” stated Board of Director President, Walter Jachna.
The James L. Maher Center is a Newport based not-for-profit dedicated to providing various daily services to nearly 300 individuals with developmental disabilities. Some of these individuals participate in work programs; over 100 receive residential services; almost 90 children benefit from early intervention and literally thousands of people in the East Bay area reach their destinations because of RIde transportation services.
Proceeds of the event will be used to further the Maher Center mission.

If Raytheon is smart they too will leave Rhode island.
Rhode island is now being called the grave yard state.
Except for bellevue ave in Newport the weeds are taking over this state. Just look at the highways and roadways - they look like a forgotten Iovergrown cemetery.
She may be working for this agency but she sure is driving
The state into oblivion
TURN THE LIGHTS OUT AS THE LATE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE LEAVES

Teresa, thanks so much for your non-support for the people of Aquidneck Island on your voting for the tolls on the Sakonnet River bridge. We will remember your all your support when it is time to vote you out!!

RI GA Sen Paiva Weed Newport flip flopped & now is promoting an expansion of Casino gambling! sen-paivaweed@rilin.state.ri.us Classic bait and switch - she was against it before she was for it! Today here on Aquidneck Island we know how much money is siphoned off from the economy and the misery this creates. Yes, yet another form of economic terrorism. The justification offered is losses of excessive jobs to other locations are questioned! Why have we not seen this topic discussed in aol patch or challenged in The NDN? We need to reject this bad apple that continues to return to our ballot. Yes, vote against any and all casino gambling expansions .Yes, we Need to vote against any and all in the RI General Assembly (that now support this recently repeated attempted assault on our communities.). This will finally starve the beast of bloated big government in overreach. Even more tainted money is not a recipe for a solution to the RI economic misery. This money is a fuel for fraud, malfeasance and corruption must be limited and even reduced and accordingly drive this ship of fools out of office. Our communities and the state can then return to a wholesome environment and repair the damage done by these self serving pols. We must no longer fund our government and its excesses on the backs of the poor suspended in misery. The price is much too high and destroys the social fabric of our society. How many times must we vote and say no?
