With family present, the Rhode Island National Guard served as Casket Guard during a brief ceremony in which the casket was transferred from the military aircraft that landed at Quonset Point to a hearse that carried Paranzino's body to the Memorial Funeral Home in Newport, said Sgt. Kiernan.

Before being brought to Rhode Island, his body first arrived from Afghanistan to Dover, DE, on Saturday, Nov. 6, in a "dignified transfer" ceremony attended by family.
