Island Outfitters Assistant Manager is a Reality Show Hopeful
Anna Saxon, 22, applied for the reality show set to shoot in Newport this summer.
Anna Saxon may be frequently seen at the Thames Street boutique Island Outfitters, but you may be seeing her face pop up on the small screen.
Newport has been speculating for the past month since a LA casting agency put out feelers for the newest Newport-based reality stars.
The 22-year-old URI grad said she applied to the show because she and her friends would make a great reality show on their own.
“I’ve always liked the concept of reality TV,” she said.
Saxon said she first applied by email, and was then to apply through a survey on the show’s website. She also had to submit a photo and explain where she lives, what she does for a living, and what she does on the weekends.
“I have a solid group of friends. . .we’re just ridiculous,” Saxon said of her camera-ready posse.
In response to locals opposing the show in fear of Newport getting a bad rap a la Jersey Shore, Saxon said she thinks the concerns are unwarranted.
“Newport is classier,” she said. “I’m from New Jersey, I know what it’s like.”
Saxon added that even the landscape of Newport would prevent it from turning into a Jersey Shore spoof.
“Just by the premise it’s not going to be like [Jersey Shore],” she said. “They want people with money to spend.”
Sason said the show’s producers were looking for people in the 21-30 age range, spanning young professionals to Newport socialites.
She said she has not heard back yet, but would welcome the opportunity to be on the show.
