UPDATE: Canceled and Closed! Hurricane Irene Wipes Out Newport Events and Services
Newport Arts Festival, Bucket Regatta and Lobsterfest have all been postponed.
Due to the impending hurricane, event organizers are taking precautions against the inclement weather and have canceled or postponed several events scheduled for this weekend.
Newport Arts Festival – Postponed to Sept. 24 and 25
Newport Bucket Regatta – Canceled
Newport Bucket Regatta WWII Airshow – Canceled
Garden Party for the Redwood Library – Postponed to Sept. 10
Rock the Docks Lobsterfest – Postponed to Sept. 25
Trinity Church will reschedule services for Saturday 5 pm. Sunday services are now cancelled.
According to their Facebook page, Save The Bay's Exploration Center and Aquarium will be closed on Sunday and, possibly, Monday.
The Newport Visitors Center will be closed Sunday, and will reopen Monday morning at 9 am.
Whitehorne Museum will be closed on Sunday. Newport History walking tours will also be cancelled.
Salve Regina has canceled the weekly Mass scheduled for 11 am this Sunday at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. Services will resume Sunday Sept. 4.
