Friday, Oct. 28

It's not too late to get a big orange gourd to carve. Either head over to  at Queene Anne's Square in Newport, or drive up to Middletown's Sweet Berry Farm. Trinity's patch is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. up until Halloween. Sweet Berry Farm is open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The "Tunnels of Terror" and "Ghost Hunts" continue Friday through Sunday at . Fortress of Nightmares is the largest annual fundraiser for restoration of the historic military installation. Time is 6 to 9 p.m. Admission: Ghost Hunt $10; Tunnels of Terror $10; Combo Ticket $15. Tours are weather dependent and sturdy footwear is required. For more information, go here.

This event is open to the public and includes a Haunted Trail, Entertainment, Pirate Express Hayride, Mystery Experience, Arts & Crafts and Concessions. Admission: Active Duty Adults: $3, Children (4-12) $2 and children 3 and under free * with valid ID. Others: Adults: $5, Children (4-12) $3 and Children 3 and under free.  Hours of Operation: October 28 from 6 to 9 p.m.  October 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. Carr Point Recreation Area Burma Road, Middletown.

warehouses and describes the horrid stories of how the shipyard and its workers sank into the deep grasp of evil. Meet the tortured souls, imprisoned there for eternity and
learn the ways of their unfortunate fate, in this formidable, interactive, guided theatre-style tour at the .

For the innocent, not quite ready for the dreaded tour, these docks of doom still hold fun for those 10 and under at the Spooky Wharf, a “lights-on” tent full of frightful child-friendly fun. For those needing a break from the jumps and jitters, spirits, edibles and brew will relieve and relax at the Creepy Canteen, an open courtyard serving festive fare and seasonal beverages for the whole family, plus a full bar for guests over 21.

Head down to the 's Dungeon of Doom to dance the night away with DJ Face. The party will include video footage, a laser light show, and costume contest. Head over at 9 pm.

Saturday, Oct. 29

will host a free children's Halloween party in which parents and children are encouraged to dress in costume and come to play games and enjoys snacks and treats. Prizes will be awarded. Bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the . Free parking is available in the church parking lot on Dearborn St. 4 pm.

Bike Newport will lead a costumed (be sure to incorporate your helmet) Halloween ride of approximately 4.5 miles around the city, starting at 4 pm. The ride starts and ends in Washington Square. Hot cider and baked goods will be served at the end of the ride.

Wag Nation invites Newport’s dogs for a Howl-o-ween Stroll down Bellevue Avenue. Trick-or-TREATing is a must, but costumes aren’t required. Prizes will be awarded for best canine costume and best human/dog coordinated costume. More treats available at Wag Nation after the parade. All well-behaved, leashed dog are welcome. Join the Ultimate Halloween Bash at  from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. The haunted 60-room mansion will set the stage for dancing with two different DJs, live entertainment, a mix of hors d'oeuvres, food, complimentary beer, wine, a signature cocktail, cash bar, photo shutter booth and a few surprises. There will also be a shuttle for parking and limited service from the hotels below. Tickets are $95 and available here.

Everyone is invited to this old-fashioned Halloween costume party for the entire family. Fun and games will be had, plus trick-or-treat in the corn maze. Wear a costume and receive $1 off admission. Discounts cannot be combined. Rain date: Oct. 31. While there, be sure to also enjoy the Escobar's Highland Farm renowned 8-acre Corn Maze. Bring the kids and get ready to get lost. Dress up your pooch and parade it about the grounds of the to show off the cool costume. Friendly dogs of all ages and sizes are welcome. Photos with your dog along with door prizes, costume prizes and tricks and treats will abound. The parade starts at 1 pm. $7.

Sunday, Oct. 30

While you're over at Easton's, also be sure to check out the , which has been made Halloween-ready. Those who come in costume will receive $1 off the $5 entry fee. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

Elks Children’s Party

A Not Scary Halloween Party includes crafts, goodie bags and 9-hole mini-golf, Sunday, Oct. 30, 2 – 5 p.m., Newport Elks Lodge, $5 per child. Call 845-5800 for more information.

Trinity Costume Parade 

The community is invited to dress up in their favorite costumes and show them off at 1 pm. The parade begins at the Trinity Church Pumpkin Patch.

Washington Square Halloween Parade

Children, pets and parents are all invited to join in an old-fashioned “Hallowe’en Walk around Washington Square.”

Visit Newport’s favorite fall mansion, Belcourt Castle, for Ghost Tours with owner Harle Tinney.

The Washington Square Roots Initiative invites families to come to Washington Square to trick or treat at businesses on square, to join in on the costume parade, and to catch a free screening of Casper at the  at 5:30 p.m.

Monster mash with DJ Butch and the Ravers at the Dockside on Halloween night and gobble up the junkfood buffet. Cash prizes will be given for best, worst and most interesting costumes. 21+; Proper ID required. $20.

Trick or Treat at the Library

Children of all ages are invited to wear their costumes and visit the Children’s Desk from 12:30pm – 8:45pm for a free Halloween treat.  One treat per child while supplies last.
