Kevin L. Alexander, 47, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, was arrested around 7:04 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, for a simple assault charge.

Police were dispatched to the Shell Station on the rotary for a reported fight.

According to a witness, Alexander instigated a fight with another man and then punched him. The victim said he only had punched back in self-defense.

Woman arrested for breaking and entering, larceny charges

Alexa E. Dull, 43, of 2 Cedar Ave., Middletown, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, for domestic breaking and entering and attempted larceny charges.

Police were dispatched to a Sherman Street address for a report of a woman kicking in the front door.

According to Dull, she wanted to retrieve her cell phone, so she went to the victim's home to hold items for “ransom.”

The victim's roommate said Dull entered the house and tried to take two guitar cases.

• William V. Young, III, 18, of 116 Park Holm, Newport, was arrested around 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, for an active warrant.
• Davis Little, 26, of 15 Newport Ave., was cited around 9:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, for possession of alcohol in public. 
• Bryan R. Matose, 35, Newport, was arrested around 1:25 a.m. on Friday, June 29, for a domestic disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and simple assault charges.
