Eyes on the Water: USS Independence
The USS Independence made its way through Newport's waters this morning.
The USS Independence (LCS-2) was spotted passing under the Newport Pell Bridge this morning as it made its way to Naval Station Newport.
Indy will be berthed alongside Pier 2 for a week-long stay in conjuction with the Chief of Naval Operation's International Sea Symposium, hosted by the Naval War College.
The Independence is a small assault transport that has been in active service since 2011. Her home port is in San Diego.
