The new Sakonnet River Bridge opened for Route 24 northbound traffic today, Sept. 20, for the first time after years of construction.

In approximately one week, the new bridge also will carry southbound traffic, according to the Department of Transportation.

Newport Patch wants to know what you thought as you drove over the bridge for the first time!

Were you impressed by the view? Did the route seem easier? Were you impressed by the bridge's new style?
