ALN Hosts Forum on Newport Grand Expansion Debate

The forum explored several sides to the proposed expansion to include table games at Newport Grand.

The Alliance for a Livable Newport held a forum to discuss both sides of the at Thursday night at , the Providence Journal Reports.

Newport Grand's CEO, a priest opposed to gambling and a business professor presented their arguments during the forum. Several Newport residents also turned out to join the debate about expanding Newport Grand to include table games.

“We have concluded that adding table games to our gaming offering presents the best possible option for Newport Grand to be able to continue to be a significant local employer and tax revenue generator,” CEO Diane Hurley wrote in a letter to the Council.
