41 North Honors Newport Boys & Girls Club
The restaurant and marina recognized the group for their work with Share Our Strength.
In recognition of the of the work of Share Our Strength, Forty 1° North commemorated the start of summer last Tuesday by hosting the Boys & Girls Club of Newport to celebrate its end-of-year achievement awards with a one-of-a-kind dockside BBQ.
Share Our Strength is a national charity dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America, and is affiliated with the Rhode Island Food Bank.
Guests at the event included children from the Boys & Girls Club of Newport along with their parents, executives of the Share Our Strength, and executives and representatives from the Rhode Island Food Bank. Attendees enjoyed summer fare on the waterside deck prepared by the hotel’s award winning Chef Kim Lambrechts as well as activities including face painting and arts and crafts.
The opening event of the 28-room and cottage boutique hotel raised more than $10,000 for Share Our Strength, which in conjunction with the RI Food Bank, was used to provide after-school meals to the Boys & Girls Club of Newport.
The summer 2011 season marks the first fully operational year for Forty 1° North, and the property and its staff wanted to honor the work of these organizations and bring the children and parents of the Boys and Girls Club by hosting the dockside gathering.
