Ellen (Steele) Ebeling, 88, of Summerville, SC, died Friday, October 8, 2010, at Trident Hospital, Charleston, SC.

She was the wife of the late William Charles Ebeling and mother of the late William Charles Ebeling, Jr.

Born in Newport, RI, on June 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Riley) Steele.

Mrs. Ebeling was a graduate of Rogers High School and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Burcham of Summerville, SC; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Evans and husband D. Brett Padgett; her granddaughter Mary-Rebecca Ebeling and husband Mark Brosnan; her grandson William Charles Ebeling, III and his partner Jesse Kenyon. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Morgan Padgett and Victoria Padgett.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010, at 9 a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.

Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
