Mark Colborn, 62, of Bateman Ave., Newport, RI, formerly of Worcester, MA, died on Friday November 12, 2010, at home after a short illness. He was the husband of Bernadette (Bowman) Colborn for 40 years.

He leaves his two daughters Shannon Colborn of Madison, CT, and Jamie Robinson and her husband Jason of Middletown, CT; his niece, Kristina Nashold and her husband Doug; his 6 grandchildren; his father Ralph Colborn of Muscatine, IA; brothers Dwight and David Colborn; and sisters Elaine Alberding and Marcia Waters, along with several nieces and nephews.

Prior to retirement, Mark was Vice President of Customer Service at Allmerica Financial in Worcester, MA. He also served as chairman of the Board of Mechanics Hall as well as the Worcester Regional Research Bureau. Mark was also a founding member of the Seven Hills Charter School and received the Key to the City of Worcester for leading a major Strategic Planning Initiative for the city.

Following retirement in 2003, Mark relocated to Newport, RI, with his wife and became a member of the Board of Directors for the Alliance for a Livable Newport.

A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, November 17, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 12 Marlborough St., Newport. Burial private. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday November 16, from 6-8 p.m. in the O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St., Newport.
