Marie Alice Coute, 84, formerly of Halsey Street, Newport, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI.

She was the wife of the late Antone P. Coute and the mother of the late Anthony P. Coute.

Born in Fall River, MA on January 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Mary (Guilmette) Janeiro.

Mrs. Coute retired from the Newport School of Nursing, where she worked as a housekeeper and house mother for 22 years. 'Alice' was very fond of animals, gardening and was known as a wonderful cook. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church for most of her life. She will be sorely missed by her family and the many neighbors that surrounded her little house on Halsey St. in Newport.

She is survived by her daughter Lorraine F. Beaumont and her husband Harry, of Newport, her sisters, Margaret Tessier and Jeanette Coute of Newport, Ida Bilodeau and Helen Askew, of Fall River, MA, Dorothy Tavares of Little Compton, and her brother Antone Janeiro of Swansea, MA. She was also sister to the late Roseline Carreiro of Warren, RI, William Guillmette and Florence Dupre of Fall River, MA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Tiffany Beaumont Worthen, Joshua Coute, Anthony, Troy, and Timothy Delross, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 6, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport..
